Sanctuary Golf Course at WestWorld

Situated within the Southern Basin and Range ecological region in the foothills of Maricopa County’s McDowell Mountains, Sanctuary Golf Course grew out of the remnants of the bulldozed area used to create the Central Arizona Project.  The 18-hole daily fee golf course was built primarily within the city of Scottsdale and the Bureau of Reclamation storm water retention area, northeast of the city bordering the north side of the Arizona Canal.  The Sonoran Desert native plant community features acacia trees, cacti, ironwood, and many varieties of wildflowers.  The course features 80 acres of turfgrass, 55 sand bunkers, and one large water feature, complete with on-site recharge wells that purify runoff water from the golf course and return it to the ground to replenish the area’s natural water supply.  This is federally regulated land that has been set aside for open-air recreational use.  To learn more about the first Certified Signature Sanctuary in Arizona, go to www.sanctuarygolf.com
