Directions to
Hollyhock Hollow Sanctuary
To
Audubon International Headquarters and the Audubon Society of New York
State at Hollyhock Hollow Sanctuary
From the Adirondack
Northway (Interstate Rte. 87, or I-87) from points north of Albany
(including Albany International Airport):
Take I-87 SOUTHBOUND to Albany. At EXIT 1, stay in the FAR RIGHTHAND
EXIT LANE and follow the signs for the NEW YORK THRUWAY. After going
through the toll booths, stay to the RIGHT and follow the signs for I-87
SOUTH to NEW YORK CITY.
At
Exit 23 go through the tollbooth taking the ramp to the right and make a
right turn at the light at the top of the ramp onto Rt. 9 W.
Follow Rt. 9W about ½ mile and watch for the Comfort Inn on the right
side (if staying at Comfort Inn, turn right into the parking lot).
Continue on the Hollyhock Hollow following directions below from Rt.
9W.
From 787 and the Albany
Area
Take 787 South to the end. Turn right at the light on to Rt. 9W
Follow Rt. 9W about
1.5 miles and bear right onto Rt. 32 (Delmar Bypass).
Follow Rt. 32 to the
4th traffic light--about 3 miles.
Make a left turn at
the light onto Elm Ave (aka Rt. 32 S).
Follow Rt. 32 about
3 miles over the bridge & into the town of Feura Bush.
Make a left onto Rt.
102 (Old Quarry Rd.) just past Hotalings Market in Feura Bush.
Go 3 miles to the
intersection of Rupert Rd. (on the left) and Rarick Rd. (on the right).
Turn right onto
Rarick Rd. and go 3/10 of a mile to Audubon Society of New York
headquarters. Main building on the left is grey and maroon with paved
parking lot.
Continue short
distance to white building on the right side of road.
From the Massachusetts
Turnpike (I-90):
The Mass Turnpike at its western terminus becomes the Berkshire
Extension of the New York Thruway. Continue westbound on the Berkshire
Extension of the NY Thruway (keep going past the exit where I-90
breaks off) until it ends at the main north-south section of the NY
Thruway, which is I-87.
Take I-87 northbound toward Albany a very short distance, to the
first exit, which is Exit 22 (Selkirk) and follow directions below.
From Interstate 87 from
Points South of Albany, including New York City
Take I-87 to
exit 22. Go through the tollbooth and turn right onto State Rte. 144.
Go to the first intersection (about 3/10 mi.) and turn right onto State
Rte. 396.
Follow State Rte. 396 about 5.8 miles (watch for a chainlink fence
around a small water treatment plant reservoir on the right), to the
intersection with Old Quarry Road (County Rd. 102). There is a brown
sign at the intersection with a white silhouette of a pair of binoculars
and the words “Wildlife Viewing.”
Turn right onto County Rd. 102 and follow it a short distance (about 1/4
mile) down a hill, across a creek, and up a hill, to the first
intersection, with Rarick Rd. on the left and then Rupert Rd. on the
right.
Turn left onto Rarick Rd. and follow for about 1/4 mile, until you see
the sign for Audubon Society of NY State headquarters -- a gray and
maroon building with a paved parking lot on the left.
